Summer registration opens March 16 and 17
As students work out their spring—and even fall—schedules, they can look to summer registration to find courses they were closed out of or prerequisites they need to move forward in their majors.
Seniors, graduate students and visiting students can register Monday, March 16, and all other students on Tuesday, March 17, just after spring break.
Offerings for summer 2020 can be found under the “course listings” menu item on the Summer School web site. Students can check out courses by department within the College of Arts & Sciences and six professional schools in Academic Affairs. Listings are also broken out by Maymester, online, arts, and other designations to assist students in finding what they need to complete General Education requirements, finish major and minor requirements, or take an introductory course, among other reasons.
Maymester courses number 71 for summer 2020 and allow students to earn three credits in three weeks. They can then focus on work, internships, Study Abroad, or other activities. With Maymester and two five-and-a-half-week sessions, about 600 sections of courses are offered.
Dean Jan Yopp noted that two out of three UNC-Chapel Hill students attend at least one summer session before they are graduated. “Summer courses enable students to make timely progress to degree,” she added. “Experiential education courses include some travel, and the growing number of online courses through Summer School gives students more options to take courses and live at home and work, while still earning credit.”
Maymester is May 13-29, First Session May 13-June 18 and Second Session June 22-July 28.
