Chapel Hill and Carrboro: The University is located in Chapel Hill, and Carrboro is a smaller town located one mile away. The Chapel Hill and Orange County Visitors Bureau website provides upcoming area events and other great ideas for enhancing your life while at UNC.

On campus, visit the Morehead Planetarium and Ackland Art Museum. Enjoy the riches of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, the Research Triangle, and the state of North Carolina in the summertime. Whether it’s the internationally recognized American Dance Festival in Durham, a special exhibit at the NC Museum of Art in Raleigh, shops and music venues on Franklin Street, or water skiing on Jordan Lake, summer in the Triangle is bursting with opportunities for you to explore. Campus Recreation Program facilities are also available during the summer sessions.

Atmosphere

During the summer, UNC-Chapel Hill has one-third its fall/spring student population, giving this research university a small college atmosphere. The smaller class sizes allow more personal interaction with faculty, and fewer people mean shorter lines and less crowding in the libraries, Student Union, and cafeterias. Students can truly experience the riches of Chapel Hill, the Research Triangle, and the state of North Carolina in the summertime.

On campus, visit the Morehead Planetarium and Ackland Art Museum. Campus Recreation Program facilities are also available to enrolled students during the summer sessions. The Carolina Union offers some special events. The Locally Grown Music & Movie Series offers an eclectic array of free, outdoor live concerts and movies in downtown Chapel Hill during summer evenings.
