Student Housing and Dining - 2009

On-Campus Residence Halls: Living in a residence hall has the advantage of being close to classrooms, laboratories, libraries, computer facilities, and dining halls, as well as recreational and athletic activities.

The Department of Housing and Residential Education provides on-campus housing for those students who have officially enrolled in summer classes or special programs. The rates per session are:  Session I:  Double room with air:  $770.00.  Session II:  Double room with air:  $792.00.  Maymester:  Double room with air $383.00.  On-line housing applications are available from the Department of Housing and Residential Education (http://housing.unc.edu) beginning in early March.  Assignments are made in the order applications are received.
Room rent charges are posted to your student account.  A $50.00 cancellation charge incurs if the application is canceled prior to the halls opening.  Students are notified of room and roommate assignments in early May. Email housing@unc.edu if you have questions.

Off-Campus Housing: Rooms, apartments, and houses are available. Check local newspapers for listings. If you are considering off-campus housing, visit the property and make arrangements in person.

Granville Towers: Granville Towers is a privately-owned and University-approved complex of air-conditioned halls located adjacent to the UNC campus and Franklin Street. Summer 2009 rates for room and board are $1625 per person per session for single occupancy in The Franklin which includes compact refrigerator and microwave and $1874 for single occupancy in The Rameses with a kitchenette.  Fifteen meals to our on-site dining faculity, The Agora, are included each week with both rooms, as well as housekeeping service, cable TVs in lounges, a swimming pool, a basketball court, and a physical fitness center.   Students also have access to a XBox 360 room, 24-hour quiet study lounge, a home theater, and much more!  Parking permits are available for $80 per session.  For further information and contract applications contact Granville Towers, University Square, Chapel Hill, NC 27514 (800)332-3113. The Carolina Dining Service (962-0200) provides meals or snacks at several locations on campus. The following locations will be serving breakfast and lunch items:  North Campus - Alpine Bagel, Main Street Retail in Lenoir; South Campus - Tar Heel Cafe,  and McColl Cafe; Deliver - For delivery to your residence hall visit our website .

Carolina Dining Services suggests that students put $300 per summer school session on their UNC One Card Expense account to pay for dining while on campus:
