Financial Aid
New or continuing students in good academic standing in a program leading to a degree from UNC-Chapel Hill may be eligible for financial aid during the summer. Contact the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid, CB# 2300, 111 Pettigrew Hall (962-8396, or online (http://studentaid.unc.edu/) . Eligibility for assistance is determined according to national standards that measure the amount you and your family should be able to pay for your Summer School costs. Loans are usually available. To receive a Stafford Loan, an undergraduate student attending only one session of summer school, must be enrolled in 6 hours. A graduate student must be enrolled in 4.5 hours, unless enrolled in a full-time thesis/dissertation program (course number 992,993,994)
An undergraduate student attending the first session of summer school and the second session of summer school may register for 3 hours each session for a total of 6 hours. The combination of hours for a graduate student during all summer sessions must equal at least 4.5 hours.
The preference deadline to apply for summer aid is April 1. However, applications will be accepted through the first day of class for each summer session.
Visiting students enrolled in summer courses are not eligible for
financial aid from UNC-Chapel Hill. Check with your home
